Rising into the sky between Disney’s Boardwalk and Disney’s Yacht Club resorts, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts are often overlooked as on-property lodging options (due to its minimal Disney theming,) which is why we consider them to be “hidden gems”. The Swan and Dolphin resorts provide a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Walt Disney World parks, and provide guests walkable access to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios by being on the Boardwalk. These hotels are also uniquely Marriott branded, which can appeal to patrons who are loyal to Marriott hotels and resorts.
Fast Facts: The Swan and Dolphin resorts are often referred to as one resort, but they are in fact two separate “sister” resorts with separate buildings and amenities. As an “on property” resort, guests staying here can enjoy early park entry and afterhours park access exclusive to deluxe resort guests. These resorts are also Marriott hotels, which means that guests who utilize Marriott points can use those benefits and the rooms are some of the largest on Walt Disney World property.
Location, Location Location: When staying at the Swan or the Dolphin, guests are also directly on the Boardwalk. This provides easy access to all of the evening entertainment, like live performances, that can be found there. This location also provides easy access to the back gate of EPCOT, which is the closest to the World Showcase (care to rope drop Remy, anyone?) and a brief walk to the entrance of Hollywood Studios. Because this hotel is considered “on property”, park-goers can also use the Walt Disney World resort shuttle buses to get around as well as the Friendship boats that go back and forth to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Guests in certain hotel rooms can also be treated to a view of Hollywood Studios, or can step out the back of the resorts to the Boardwalk to see the nightly EPCOT fireworks display.
Pools and Resort Amenities: Each resort is equipped with multiple pools and whirlpools, and a white sand beach complete with sand volleyball courts. There are even lap pools and swan paddle boats to rent! Both resorts also have poolside cabanas to rent that are perfect for lounging and enjoying some relaxation after busy park days. Due to the resorts’ proximity to Disney’s Boardwalk, guests can also utilize the jogging trail right outside of the hotel. Walt Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts are also home to the luxurious Mandara Spa. To round all of the fun out, there is a game room located on the main floor of the Dolphin Resort.
Food and Drink: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts host 23 restaurants and lounges between the two properties. There are six fine dining establishments, like Shula’s Steakhouse and Kimono, five casual restaurants, including two poolside spots, and five quick service spots, featuring two coffee bars for those who need their morning java before heading to the parks. To complete the list, six bar/lounges are available for craft cocktails or a cold mug of beer. Besides these delicious options, foodies can easily get to the restaurants and treat options inside EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club, Disney’s Boardwalk, or the resorts along the skyliner (Disney’s Riviera or Caribbean Beach resorts).
Other Considerations: Due to the Swan and Dolphin’s proximity to EPCOT’s back gate, guests can easily ride the Skyliner to access resorts along the route. Some popular options include: Topolino’s at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort. For those who just want to stroll around the properties of these resorts, guests can take advantage of the Skyliner too.
With so many options for fun and relaxation that can be found at Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resort, there is no shortage of exactly what you need for your next magical vacation.
