Disney’s Port Orleans Resort has two sister resorts (Riverside and French Quarter) that share some common amenities, but have their own unique theming and fun activities. One of the unique opportunities available to enjoy at the Riverside is the magical Royal Guest Rooms that are available. These rooms are heavily-themed princess themed and will capture the imagination of guests of all ages. General Information: Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside is a “moderate” resort located in the Disney Springs Resort area. The resort shares grounds with the French Quarter and guests staying at either sister resort can walk to use the amenities of both. The resort is nestled along the Sassagoula River and is designed to display the romance of rural Louisiana. Another unique fact about this resort is that it is also pet-friendly.
Royal Guest Rooms: These immersive rooms are fit for a prince or princess and are the only princess-themed guest rooms on Walt Disney World property! Special touches include bed headboards that light up with LED fireworks displays, a Magic Carpet on the floor, Genie’s lamp disguised as faucets, and hidden Mickeys throughout. With two queen beds (sleeps 4 adults) and a large bathroom area, these rooms are perfect for the whole family. The Royal Guests Rooms are located towards the end of the Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort that is closest to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort that is separated by a little walkway. It is easy to walk between the resorts, which makes walking to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter for some delicious beignets a must do!
Regular Guest Rooms: Besides the Royal Guests Rooms available at this resort, traditional rooms are also available. There are king rooms, rooms with two queen beds, and rooms with two queen beds and a 5th sleeper pull-down bed available. These rooms vary in type of view (standard, woods, pool, water views), and there are also rooms available in the “preferred location” category which are located closer to the main lobby, main pool, and dining options.
Amenities: Disney’s Port Orleans- Riverside has several pools to cool off and relax in. For adventurous guests, the Ol’ Man Island pool includes a 95-foot long water slide. Guests are also welcome to use the pools across the way in the French Quarter side of the resort. This resort also hosts nightly campfires and outdoor movie experiences, and has Surrey bikes, traditional bikes, and horse-drawn carriage rides available to rent. There is also a jogging path, two arcades, outdoor playgrounds, and fishing excursions to enjoy.
Transportation: Guests staying at Disney’s Port-Orleans-Riverside can utilize Walt Disney World’s complimentary bus service to get to all of the parks and on property. Additionally, guests can utilize the paid Minnie Vans or other ride share services available. Water taxis are available for transportation to Disney Springs.
Dining Opportunities: This resort has several dining options sure to appeal to everyone in your travel group. The Riverside Mill Food Court serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with five food stations to choose from. Boatwright’s Dining Hall is open for dinner (reservations accepted) and serves New Orleans-style faire. River Roost and Muddy Rivers serve-up specialty cocktails and other adult beverages. Due to the close proximity of Riverside and the French Quarter, guests can also head on over to the French Quarter to grab some warm beignets from Scat Cat’s Club.
